A bail bond is formally known as a “Surety Bond”. A friend, relative, attorney, or even the defendant will contact a bail bond company by phone. The initial phone consultation, we will obtain the basic information about your individual situation. This information ranges from where the person is being held, how long they have been in custody, and what charges they are facing in order to fine the agent who can best help you.

Once you sign, you will pay a fee for the bond- usually 10 percent of the bond. This is known as a “premium.” Once paid, we then put up the full amount of the bail with the courts.

When you “co-sign” for a person, you are agreeing to make sure the defendant appears at all of their court appearances. Court cases last until sentencing is complete.
